This is a very cool talk by Margaret Wertheim about the nature of hyperbolic space and how crochet has linkages to general relativity. It is interesting to hear how Nature utilizes this technique. Pay attention to the section about changing the standard crochet pattern to something with a little anomaly and look at the results. Who knew that lettuce would be so important?
